Georgie from Banbury

Georgina and her Mum, Trina, collected our Berkshire based Mission Piggyback tag-along trike and backrest in late March 2025. Trina told our Facebook group the next day, "We collected the Piggyback Trailer Trike from John in Berkshire yesterday. Despite Georgie’s initial reluctance, we’ve had a lovely ride in the sunshine today Georgie is gaining confidence and has already learnt to stop peddling when I say brake (and to tell me when she wants to stop ).
Thank you Charlotte's Tandems - John was super helpful getting us all set up and loaded into the car, and Georgie “helped” his wife with the gardening while we were there. We’re looking forward to lots more rides and, with the extra peddle power our old trailer doesn’t have, we might even attempt the school run up the big long hill this week!"

They also decided to use roof bars to transport the tandem and we loaned the BTS Hydraulic lift to mount the tandem on the roof."

It was his first time ever out on a bike and he had a great time. Thank you so much for giving him the opportunity to experience it! Sorry it’s not a great photo as they went out on their own, I’ll get someone to better ones when we go out altogether! "
Georgina from Banbury

Georgina and her Mum, Marie, collected our Berkshire based Weehoo in late March 2025. Marie wrote soon after, "We managed to get Georgina comfortably on the Weehoo this morning. She is very nervous of new things and due to her cerebral palsy, she struggles with the fear of falling. It was such a lively experience taking one of her brothers out for a bike ride this morning. She will never be able to ride a bike but this has made her feel like a “big girl”. Once we get out as a whole family I’ll get a picture on the move."
John from Cullingworth

John and his friend, Phil, collected our Calderdale based Landescape Atlantic tandem in mid-March 2025.
"John and I have been out for two initial test rides. So far so good, although we are still a bit unsteady! Enjoying it greatly.
Today we ventured on to the road ( a short distance!) then onto the Sustrans trail from Cullingworth. I did a quick selfie (attached) which unfortunately doesn’t show the wonderful bike, our bibs, or the amazing countryside, but hopefully you can see the pleasure in our faces!
We’ll be doing another couple of trail rides soon, so I’ll try and improve my photography and send you a more exciting shot later."

Can't blame them. It was beautiful."

C from Filey

C and her Mum, Em, collected our North Yorkshire based Viking Timber Trail tandem and a Mission backrest in early March. Em wrote soon after,
"I wanted to say a big thank you for the amazing opportunity Charlotte’s Tandems have given to me and my daughter.
Within 48 hours of our GP suggesting a tandem for our health and well-being, we were trying tandems for size and balance! Our helpers, Andy and Lynn were so friendly and welcoming and we really felt looked after. After ensuring our safety and providing a lumbar seat support, off we went. Today we went for a ride around our local area, and we had lots of smiles and conversations. It’s social and exciting to plan more opportunities to exercise whilst having fun.
Thank you so much to such a wonderful charity and of course to Andy and Lynn who give up their own time to do this. We wouldn’t have had this opportunity otherwise."

Stuart from Morpeth

Stuart and his Daughter, Celia, collected our Newcastle-upon-Tyne based Viking Monarch tandem in late February 2025. Celia told Helper Tim in early April, "Please find attached some photos of one of Charlotte's Tandems being used to rehabilitate my father back into cycling during his recovery following a stroke last year.
The tandem has been particularly useful in restoring his confidence in balancing and riding a bike on the road. Albeit with me being on the front as a pilot.
His sight and balance has improved to allow him to move back onto a solo bike with me leading at the front.
Many thanks to you and Charlotte's Tandems"

Coby from Eastbourne

Coby and his parents, Martin and Terri, collected our Eastbourne based Landescape tandem in early February 2025. At the start of March Terri told our Facebook group, "We borrowed a bike from Gabor a few weeks ago just to try it out as we weren’t sure how our eldest son (9 years old, ASD, ADHD, Dyspraxic and Dyslexic) would cope as he can’t ride independently yet and hasn’t shown much interest in wanting to learn!
So we had the idea to try a tandem to see if it would help our oldest to be able to join in and he absolutely loves it!
It’s one of the best decisions we’ve made, he asks every morning if we can ride the bike to school and I do believe it is helping him with his confidence, balance and the general feeling of being upright on a bike that one day maybe he will ride independently - but for now he is thoroughly enjoying the tandem.
Thank you so much Charlotte's Tandems!

Matthew from Guildford

Matthew and his Mum, Sarah, collected our Surrey based Viking Valhalla tandem in mid-January 2025. They previously borrowed a tandem from us in 2022. Sarah has written, "After a few practice rides on our street to get the hang of the tandem, today we took it out for a longer ride. It worked well, Matthew was able to keep his feet on the pedals with little difficulty, and to help power up the hills! We're looking forward to getting out and about on it as much as possible over the next few months."
Akhtar from London

Akhtar and her husband, Michael, collected our Surrey based Circe tandem in mid-January 2025. It is the second tandem that they've had from us. Akhtar has written,
"Thank you very much for the lovely tandem. Feel very blessed to ride the new tandem. Tourists took a lot of snaps of us as it was such a lovely day. Very grateful to Charlotte's Tandems." and "I am attaching the images from home to the Houses of Parliament. Then to Horseguards' Parade, St James' park and Buckingham Palace. Lovely day out. Did I forget the pelicans? So majestic."
