Michael from Manchester

Picture
Michael's daughter, Carole, collected our Shropshire based Viking Companion tandem in late-February 2015.

Adam from the Isle of Wight

Picture
Adam and his Mum and Dad collected the Bath based large Adams tag-along in late-February 2015.  They took it on holiday to Centre-Parcs.  Mum, Christa, wrote on our Facebook site, "For the first time Adam is enjoying cycling. Hopefully soon he'll join in with the actual pedalling."

Morgan from Portsmouth

Picture
Morgan and his Mum, Maria, collected one of our Sussex based Viking Companion tandems in mid-February 2015.

Mark from Morpeth

Picture
Mark and his Carer, John, are the first borrowers of the North-East based Pat Rohan tandem and have had it since mid-February 2015.  More details are to follow.

Evan from Tewkesbury

Picture
Evan and his parents, Jill and Tim, collected one of our Dursley based Richmond tandem in mid-February 2015. They were its first borrowers, as it was newly donated.  Here they are on their maiden voyage.
Jill wrote, "They rode about 3 miles. Evan did really well. We went down the cycle path between the motorway and town. There was one wobble at the beginning but after that they worked well together. Evan was asking about the next ride at the end, which was amazing, he is normally so anxious. Thanks so much."
In mid-April 2015, they returned the tandem, as they'd bought their own.

Dan from Wiltshire

Picture
Dan and his friends borrowed one of our Dursley based Dawes Discovery tandems from mid-February to mid-March 2015.   They took it on holiday with them to South West Wales.
Dan wrote, "Had great time in Wales...the only problem was, 30 degree hills are a bit too much on a tandem ... Phew!"

Connie from Cumbria

Picture
Connie and her parents, Nick and Jane, collected our Yorkshire Dales based KHS tandem in mid-February 2015. Jane wrote later that week, "We had our first little ride around town today and came back flushed with success and plans for rides with the whole family.  Thanks so much for our tandem.  We are going to take a picnic tomorrow!"

Joseph from Bristol

Picture
Joseph's carer, Ellen, collected one of our Dursley based Richmond tandems in mid-February 2015.  At the end of June she wrote, "We certainly have enjoyed the tandem. One of the brothers took to it very well and having the bike has transformed the scope for outings with him at the weekends. Meaning that when at times we dont have access to a car we can still travel further, not just walking through streets to parks and other activities but cycling along the river to woods and wild areas which he enjoys and is able to explore. This transport has meant so much also because walking without the tandem can be a challenge with lots of shutting down on route. Now that it is time to return the bike I am encouraged by our experience and having ideas about scooters and other fun things we can enjoy and try out.
I wish all the best for the next people about to enjoy the bike.  A big thank you to Charlotte's Tandems".

Connor from South Tyneside

Picture
Connor and his parents, David and Mandy, are borrowing the North-East based Viking Valhalla tandem in February 2015.  More details are to follow.

Charlie from Middlesborough

Charlie and his Mum, Gemma, have borrowed a tandem from us before.  This time it was the Middlesborough based Micmo tandem (this was its first hire) and they collected it in mid-February 2015.  They had it for most of the year and unfortunately didn't give any comments or a photo.

Connor from Middlesborough

Picture
Connor's Mum's friend, Christina, borrowed the Middlesborough based Viking Timbertrail in mid-February 2015, so that she can take him and his brother Jacob for rides.  Connor is shown on the stoker's seat and is next to his Mum, Kelly.  Christina is on the right with her son, Wilson.  The tandem was donated a couple of years ago by her employer, Foster Wheeler.

Joe from Middlesborough

Picture
Joe and Michaela collected the Middlesborough based Dawes Discovery tandem in mid-February 2015.  Joe had a stroke a last year that has left him with a weak side, severe fatigue and a slight lack of balance.  Michaela will help him with balance and power.

Lisa from Cinderford

Picture
Lisa and Woody from Cinderford collected one of our Dursley based Orbit tandems on St Valentine's Day 2015.
Lisa wrote on our website, "
Woody and I had a superb ride at first light this morning, with musical accompaniment from the dawn chorus. Eight miles up and down, not much flat around here. We're trying to find someone who is an early riser like us to take a photo! Another ride planned for tomorrow, simply loving it, thanks so much."
They enjoyed riding it so much that they bought their own tandem in early 2015, named it "Charlotte" and wrote two lovely Thank You letters.

Carl from Bolton

Carl and his friends were the first borrowers of our Lancashire based Viking Derwent tandem and have had it since mid-February 2015.  Unfortunately he didn't ride it.

Chris, Matthew, Gilbert and Edward from Norwich

Picture
These four visually impaired men collected the Suffolk based Globetrotter, Claud Butler and Ammaco tandems in early February 2015 to take part in a triathlon.  They were helped by Fiona and another fully sighted Helper, Julian.
Fiona wrote on our Facebook site, "
Well, considering that 5 of the 6 of us had never ridden a tandem before I'm jolly proud of the VIMS Group (Visual Impairment Mutual Support). We completed a fund raising triathlon consisting of a 500m swim, a 5 mile walk and a 12 mile cycle ride. Thanks Charlotte's Tandems"
Shown left to right are Fiona, Chris, Edward, Gilbert, Matthew & Julian.

Nicole from near Southampton

Picture
Nicole and her Mum, Heather, collected our Mission Piggyback tag-along trike in early February 2015.  Here they are on their first try, before adjusting the backrest to support her properly.

Jamie from South Wales

Picture

Here is Jamie in February 2015 on our Dursley based Newton Dawes tandem trike, the first time he has cycled since his stroke a year ago.

Tom from Steyning

Picture
Tom and his Dad, Tim, collected one of our Sussex based Viking Companion tandems in early February 2015 and returned it a few weeks later.  Tim wrote, "It was a complete success and we have bought a Viking Regency.  Thank you so much for the opportunity to try out a tandem. It has transformed our family cycling.  Charlie was fabulous.  I am waiting on some pictures from my sister in law to send to you and I’ll get them posted on Facebook."

Adele from Waterlooville

Picture
Adele and her husband collected one of our Sussex based Viking Companion tandems in late January 2015.

Todd from Stonehouse

Picture
Todd and his Foster Mum, Paula, collected our Dursley based Viking Saratoga tandem in late January 2015.  They planned to ride it to school each day.  They returned it in May 2015 but unfortunately didn't ride it as much as they wanted.

Brandon from Maidenhead

Brandon and his Dad, Lee, collected our Hampshire based Tag-along in mid-January 2015. Unfortunately abandon was too big for it and so returned it soon after.

Thomas from Bristol

Picture
Tom and his Dad, Guy, collected our Dursley based Globetrotter tandem in early mid-January 2015.  See a video of them in action here.  Guy says, "Thomas' first ride on the tandem, he absolutely loved it. Thank you for making this happen." He also said, "I was really surprised how well Thomas got on with the bike."

Tom from Reading

Picture
Tom and his Mum, Viv, collected our Hampshire based Viking Timberwolf tandem in early January 2015. Viv said, "Here is a photo of Tom and his dad zooming off on the Tandem. We are loving it. It's not just the cycling muscles that are being exercised, you should see the grin muscles!"

Harry from Bristol

Picture
Harry and his Dad, Chris, collected one of our Dursley based Dawes Discovery tandems at the start of January 2015.  Harry goes to Charlotte's School.
