Maisie from Manchester
Maisie and her Dad collected our North Staffordshire based Weehoo tag-along at the end of May 2024. Here Mum, Katie, said a moth later, "Having the Wehoo has genuinely been transformational for Maisie (and for me). It’s given us a new way to get out and about and be active, and she LOVES it. We’ve mostly been cycling to our local park and going round the long avenues which are great for cycling. We’ve even had one sunny evening when Maisie’s older brother and his friend came to the park with us and brought wallow talkies so we could play hide and seek on the bikes, and Maisie loved being in control of one of the walkie talkies while I followed her instructions to try and find them. She asks me to go faster, and it’s been great to hear her giggle with excitement. Our neighbour commented that whenever they see us on it Maisie always has an enormous smile on her face.
We really hope she can gradually get her strength back over the next few months once her chemotherapy becomes less intense and work towards eventually getting back on her own bike. This is a great step to helping us do that. Thank you Hilary and all of you so much for giving us this bit of freedom during her treatment! "

Rosa and her Dad, Warren, collected our Calderdale based Dawes Discovery tandem in late May 2024. Warren wrote a few days later, "She managed a 12km and a 16km ride over the weekend." In late-June he wrote, "Rosa is loving the freedom of riding the tandem and we’ve been on lots of rides. Thank you so much!"

Alfie and his Dad, Richard, swapped our Yorkshire based Viking Timbertrail tandem for our Sheffield based Hase Pino tandem in late May 2024. Richard told our Facebook group, "Here's Alfie setting off on our inaugural ride on the Hase Pino tandem. This is our second loan and Alfie had no problems with the different riding position. He's looking forward to many more rides"

Justyn and his brother, Harvey, collected our Berkshire based Landscape Racer tandem in late May 2024 for a day's ride. Helper John said, "Justyn has owned a Peugoet Tandem (steel) in the past but wanted to do a day's ride round Henley Area. A nice day for a ride; cloudy but dry. They hope to do around 50km. The Landscape has a suspension seat post for Justyn and also a bar end drag brake which he was rather pleased about. I did mention letting the Pilot know when applying the drag brake !!"

Jack and his Mum, Alison, collected our Warwickshire based Univega tandem in mid-May 2024. Alison reported a week later, "We managed 50m pedalling which I was really pleased with and Jack felt happy and safe. It’s going to be small steps with him. But all good for a first proper go."

Florence and her Dad, James, swapped our Berkshire based Hase Pino tandem for our Berkshire based Viking Saratoga tandem in mid-May 2024. James told our Facebook group, "Excellent time trying out the tandem we borrowed from John the Berkshire helper, thank you. Florence is far more stable than we thought she would be, all it needed was some improvised toe straps (thick cable ties) to keep her feet on the pedals. Today's 10 mile ride down the Billy Line to Hayling Island and back was ace! Little too hot for the HiVis..." See a video of them on our Facebook group.

Alice and her Mum, Sarah, collected our Hampshire based Thorn Kiddyback tandem in early May 2024. Alice said in eary June, "We did manage to get out on Sunday and Alice had a great time. Sorry I didn't have anyone to take a photo for me as husband was out with Alice's siblings but I tried my best (see attached). I will get Tim to take photos next time. My youngest is just getting to grips with his bike so perhaps we can attempt a whole family cycle!"

Billy and his Mum, Ngoc, collected our Berkshire based Huka Co-Piot tandem on May Day 2024. John, our Berkshire Helper wrote, "They borrowed the Timberline in 2021 and, although looked at it again together with the Viking Saratoga, Billy liked the look of the Co-Pilot, so had a trial ride with Ngoc and Dad (and Brother, Brian, who was not going to get off the rear carrier !!) They are going to test it at home for a couple of days and keep if successful otherwise revert to the Timberline."
