Derek from Dumbarton
Derek's friend, Colin, drove all the way to Liverpool to collect our converted Viking Saratoga tandem trike and its trailer. Here they are on their maiden voyage. Derek wrote, "It felt so good to be out on the road again." Thanks to Frances, the previous Borrower with her Dad, for arranging the handover.
Here is a blog that they started that will eventually tell people about our trike and a newspaper article. |
Tyler from Cardiff
Tyler and his parents collected one of our Gloucestershire based Viking Salerno tandems at the very end of July 2016. He will ride it with one of our backrests. More details and a photo are to follow.

Victoria and her Mum, Caroline, collected our Suffolk based Claud Butler tandem at the end of July 2016. Caroline said in September, "Borrowing 'Claude' gave my daughter the chance to get about and she (and her boyfriend, Richard) got very attached to it!"
Kate from Tatham, Lancashire
Felix from Portsmouth
Felix and his family collected our Isle of Wight based Cannondale tandem at the end of July 2016. Thanks for the loan."

Michelle from Oxford
Luke from Eynsham
Luke's Stepdad, Duncan, collected our Dursley based Co-Motion Sky Capp tandem, A.K.A. The Bouncy Bee in mid-July 2016. They are its first Borrowers. Unfortunately Luke wouldn't go anywhere near it and so they returned it soon after.
Tom from Clapham
Tom's girlfriend, Maria, collected one of our Surrey based Dawes Galaxy tandems in mid-July 2016, to surprise Tom on his Birthday. She wrote soon after, "
It worked out really well! We had some trouble starting, but managed to ride quite a lot, actually!! Tom was super happy to be able to ride it! Thank you so much for all your help! We would be really happy to keep the tandem for as long as we can, as we would like to try and take it to Richmond Park and practice some more." |
Jack from Colchester
Jack and his Dad, Wayne, collected our Suffolk based Ammaco tandem in mid-July. Wayne said soon after, "We ventured beyond the safety of the Recreation Ground today and took the riverside bike trail to Wivenhoe (about 3.5 miles there). It went really well.
Jack is getting used to having no control and is allowing me to go a little faster downhill, but the best thing of all was that he was able to complete the whole ride without feeling feint or exhausted (due to his heart condition) – I can’t say the same thing about myself J, as it was quite warm today, but he provides ‘turbo boost’ when needed. Thanks for the opportunity to try out Tandeming." |
Rebecca from Portishead
Rebecca's Dad, Stuart, collected one of our Dursley based Viking Salerno in early July 2016. Stuart wrote, "Here are Rebecca and Stuart enjoying their first proper tandem ride on the Strawberry line (from Yatton to Congresbury) earlier today. Rebecca loved it and wanted to go further but the rain stopped play unfortunately!"
They then took it on holiday, "This week we took the bikes on holiday with us to Pembrokeshire. We managed our first ever family bike ride on our first day, and we went 20miles! We went on a cycle trail (The Brunel Way) from Haverfordwest to Neyland. Poor Stuart had earache to begin with, with a lot of "not too fast Daddy!" from behind. By the time we set off on our return route Rebecca wanted to race her brothers and was egging him on to go faster!!Our second ride was much more off road, round a reservoir - Llys Y Fran. It was very steep and muddy in places, and on occasion we had to get off and push the bikes, but together Rebecca and Stuart conquered some steep hills! Rebecca has learnt to pedal hard when needed, and to climb on and off the tandem without help, which is a real challenge with her impaired eyesight and fear of falling. We never thought we'd get out as a family on our bikes, but for Rebecca to be enjoying the tandem so much is a great surprise, and achievement. Thank you so much for opening this new door to us - we are complete converts!" |

Siân from Berkeley
