Feedback from Borrowers: Sept to Dec 2021

Matilda from Hertfordshire

Matilda and her Dad, Rob, collected our Hertfordshire based Pashley U Plus 1 tag-along trike at the end of December 2021. This is the second time that they have borrowed it. More details and a photo are to follow.

Alison from Norwich

Alison and her husband collected our Norfolk based Trek tandem in mid-December 2021. In late February 2022 she told our Facebook group, "With the sun shining I could not put if off any longer and I survived my first tandem outing. There is nothing like being out in the fresh air"

Harry from Caton

Harry and his Teacher, Katharina, collected our Lancashire based Viking Tarantino tandem in November 2021. Katharina wrote, "Harry, the school and family were very pleased that Harry could take part in the cycling proficiency and he enjoyed the tandem experience, so hopefully something he will take up again in the future. In fact, he told the secondary school he will go to in September about it and they were quite keen to do some cycling on a tandem with him ."

Lousa's son from Norwich

Louisa and her son collected our Norfolk based Kurton tandem in Autumn 2021. Unfortunately he wouldn't ride it so they returned it soon after.

Isaac from Abingdon

Isaac and his Mum, Georgina, collected our Berkshire based Mission Piggyback trike in early December 2021. Georgina told our Facebook group later in December, "Isaac and his Dad enjoying the tag-along. He loves it!"

Mikey from Stevenage

Mikey and her Carer, Sarah, tried out our Hertfordshire based Dawes Kickback tandem in the Autumn of 2021

Sarah and Phil from Ealing

Sarah and Phil collected our Hertfordshire based Tandem Twosday in the Autumn of 2021. Phil said soon after, "We got around the park on the tandem this evening. ... We had to push it uphill. Not too much of an issue as Ealing is quite flat."
P.S. We've pointed out her helmet.

Nye from Bristol

Nye and his Mum, Elsie, collected our Gloucestershire based Orbit Gemini tandem in late October 2021. They plan to ride it to school.

Mickie from North Shields

Mickie and his Dad, Grant, collected our Newcastle based Viking Pennine Trail tandem from Tim in late October 2021. Grant wrote the next day, "Tim was brilliant yesterday - really friendly and helpful. Here are two photos from our first ride earlier today."

Lucca from Hexham

Lucca and his Mum, Louise, collected our Newcastle based Canyon tag-along bike in late October 2021. Louise said, "Lucca absolutely loves the tag along! We've had three rides out on it so far and he loves to shout 'Ride like the wind, Bullseye!' when we go fast as he is a huge Toy Story Fan so all in all, it's going really, really well!"

Ben from Swindon

Ben's Dad collected our Gloucestershire based Raleigh U+1 tandem at the start of October 2021.

Keith from Penrith

Keith and Andy collected our Cumbria based Dawes Kalantar tandem at the start of October 2021.

Hussain from Cambridge

Hussain and his friend, Sarah, collected our Cambridgeshire based Solec tandem in late September 2021. They are its first Borrowers but unfortunately didn't supply a photo or any comments.

Lillia from Middlesborough

Lillia and her Mum, Jade, collected our Newcastle based Viking Monarch tandem in late September 2021.

Bruce from Reading

Bruce and his Mum, Sally, had our Berkshire based Timberline tandem from late September to December 2021. No comments or a photo were supplied.

Graham from Rye

Graham and his friend, Jamie, collected our East Sussex based Trek tandem in late September 2021. Naomi wrote at the end of January 2022, "Jamie (pilot) has just taken Graham out on the tandem. They just rode 15 miles in Rye, East Sussex. Many thanks for lending the tandem to him. They will definitely be rising at least once a week now. We really appreciate it." and "They hope to ride from London to Brighton in September. They will need lots of practice! Thank you again for lending the bike. That was the first time Graham had ridden a bike as he is both blind and deaf."

Lily from Eastbourne

Lily and her Dad, Gabor, collected our East Sussex based Viking Saratoga tandem in late September 2021. Gabor is going to fit some crank shorteners to it, so that she can reach the pedals properly. They had recently returned our mid-Sussex based Thorn Kiddyback tandem.

Bea from Bristol

Bea and her Mum, Sarah, collected our Gloucestershire based Schwinn Sierra tandem in late September 2021. Their van hire was interesting as it was per hour.

Ethan from Chelmsford

Ethan and his parents, Carl and Mary, collected our Suffolk based Viking Regency tandem in mid-September 2021. In early October, Mary wrote, "We’ve only managed one outing so far and only went a short distance but it was great and Ethan really enjoyed it."

John from Shrewsbury

John collected our newly donated Shrewsbury based Orbit tandem in mid-September 2021. Helper Ray told our Facebook group, "Here's John from Shrewsbury enjoying a ride last night with friend Jean on the back of the Orbit tandem, a recent addition to the Shropshire fleet. John heard about Charlottes Tandems through a Cycling4All Shropshire 'Pedal in the Park' event where I gave him a try on a Charlotte's Tandem. John's now looking forward to future rides with Jean. The hill in the background is The Wrekin near Telford."

Chase from Chinnor

Chase and his Mum, Donna, collected our Oxford based Viking Timber Trail tandem in mid-September 2021. His Mum, Donna, wrote on Instagram, "Absolutely fantastic discovery! Chase has been struggling to learn how to ride a bike. We even paid a professional but I guess if you are missing the part of your brain that controls your balance, it’s never going to be easy.
@charlottestandems is a charity that enables children with a disability to borrow a tandem and experience riding a bike with the added support.
Chase has had the best time this morning and we get to borrow the tandem for 2 months. Thanks so much for enabling us to finally go on a family bike ride. Such a special day for us!".

Jake from Norwich

Jake collected our Norfolk based Viking Pennine Trail in mid-September 2021. Our Helper Jenny wrote, "Jake has borrowed a tandem before from our Norfolk fleet and was very pleased to have another go. He was asked to give me a comment and this is what he said....."I’m with my keyworker, TJM. We’re about to ride along the Avenues to the Bure Valley Railway Path which is nice and flat to cycle along. I’m looking forward to riding the tandem through the woods at the University of East Anglia with my house leader, SPC." Great to see you out and about Jake!"

Jean and Sarah collected our Berkshire based Viking Saratoga tandem in early September 2021. They are its first Borrowers. Sarah wrote in early October, "We had a fantastic Sunday in Berkshire and we are looking forward to more cycling!"

Raj from Reading

Raj and his wife, Malathi, collected our Berkshire based Mission Duet tandem in early September 2021. Malathi wrote, "John has been extremely helpful in sorting out the bike for Raj. John really went above and beyond for Raj and he is really enjoying using the tandem. Seeing Raj on a bike after a whole year is so reassuring for myself and my daughters. You guys are really doing an amazing thing. Keep up your good work!!"

Courtney from Tewkesbury

Courtney and her Dad, Andy, collected our Gloucestershire based green Dawes Super Galaxy tandem in early September 2021. They have previously borrowed a tandem from us. This Dawes SG was the first tandem to be donated to the Charlotte’s Tandems fleet, when we first got started. See some more photos and comments from them on our Facebook group.

Ethan and his Dad, David, collected our North Shropshire based Viking Companion tandem in early September 2021. His Mum, Sarah, told our Facebook group, “First try out on a tandem for David and Ethan. Thanks to Andrew for arranging the tandem for us. We are now looking forward to some family bike rides 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴”
