Feedback from Borrowers: May 2020

Diran from London

Diran collected our South London based Thorn tandem at the end of May 2020. He has borrowed from us several times. He wrote on our Facebook site in July. Reunited with the lovely Thorn Viper bike, and decided to take it up to Forty Hall in North London with Kat Millward (who took this photo). 24km round-trip and more to come!

Isabelle from Brighton

Isabelle's parents collected one of our Sussex Viking Valhalla tandems at the end of May 2020. Kate said on our Facebook group, "Thanks to the wonderful Charlotte's Tandems for the loan. Great to go out with my daughter and know that we are safe together. Just getting used to balancing and hills!!"

Harvey from Reading

Harvey and his Dad, Gavin, collected our Berkshire based Thorn tandem at the end of May 2020. His Mum, Sam, wrote on our Facebook group, "Thank you so much, Charlotte's Tandems. So looking forward to our first trip out as a family. ❤❤❤"

Oliver from Leyland

Oliver and his parents collected our Lancashire based Dawes Galaxy in late May 2020. Leanne wrote on our Facebook group, "Friends recommended Charlotte's Tandems and after contacting David, we collected the tandem this morning. Our initial concern was that Oliver wouldn't keep hold but after reassurance from David we gave it a try. As you can see he loves it. We are now looking forward to going on a family bike ride which we haven't been able to do before. 👍"

Joshua from Huddersfield

Joshua and his Mum, Rebecca, collected Jeffrey, our Yorkshire based Grey KHS Sausage Dog tandem, in late May 2020. Rebecca wrote on our Facebook group, "First outing on the tandem today, really missed cycling."

Amelia from Mundford

Amelia and her Mum, collected our Norfolk based Viking Pennine Trail tandem in late May 2020. She wrote the next day, "We have just taken our first ride out on the tandem we picked up yesterday from Jenny. Amelia absolutely loved it, as did I. She wants to go out on it everyday! Thank you so much! What a great service you offer.-- "

Glenn from Kendal

Glenn collected our Lancashire based Dawes Kalantar tandem in late May 2020. David, our Helper, wrote on Facebook, "The is his second loan of the same bike (the first being in June 2017. On the first loan Glenn rode from Calais to Cologne and back. This time he is riding around the southern Lake District with captain James."

Henry's Dad, David, collected our Gloucestershire based Schwinn Sierra tandem in late May 2020.

Nile from Amesbury

Nile's Dad, Charlie, collected our Gloucestershire based Argos tandem in late May 2020. Nile isn't allowed to pedal but wants to steer, brake and change gear, so he's on the front and Dad is stoking from behind, without the linking chain attached. His Mum, Carolyn, wrote on our Facebook group, "Nile and Charlie have had a first attempt at tandem riding round the local roads. A number of minor adjustments but looking good."

Beth from Hampshire

Beth and her Dad, John, collected our Berkshire based Duet wheelchair tandem in late May 2020. John said soon after, "Beth loves it!"

Sarah's husband from Berkshire

Sarah and her husband collected our Berkshire based Thorn tandem in late May 2020, but didn't enjoy riding it, so gave it back straight away.

Aimee-Rose from Winchester

Aimee-Rose and her Dad, Tom, collected our Surrey based Simmonshon tandem in late May 2020.
Tony said on our Facebook group, "Wow, this tandem is fast! Aimee-Rose and me trying out this wonderful bike for the first time. She loved it." and later that day, "We're getting the hang of this. Thanks again for the loan."

Sarah from Leeds

Sarah and David collected our Yorkshire based Viking Timbertrail tandem in late May 2020. Sarah said, “Thanku. Absolutely love been out on it. Given me a new sense of independence. Thanku once again.”
It is Ian’s first hire, so congratulations to him and hopefully it’s the first of many to come!

Oliver from Braunston, Northants

Oliver and his Mum, Jenny, collected our Warwickshire based Orbit Gemini tandem in late May 2020. According to Simon, our Helper, Oliver said that the tandem was "Amazing and superb". Oliver and Maddy, see below, are friends and Simon says that they are going to enjoy adventures together.

Maddy and her Mum, Rachel, collected our Warwickshire based Bike Friday tandem in late May 2020. See a video of them in action on our Facebook group. According to Simon, our Helper, "Maddy said her Mum is going to have to go faster."

Archie from Loughborough

Archie and his Dad, Matt, collected our Warwickshire based blue Orbita tandem in mid-May 2020. Matt wrote on our Facebook group, "So after several practice runs and familiarisation in the garden, we went out on our first test ride. A bit nervous at first, but he enjoyed it."

Zehra from Brighton

Zehra and her Mum, Zeyneb, collected one of our Viking Saratoga tandems in mid-May 2020.

Harry from Solihull

Fran from Tetbury

Fran's friend, Mike, collected our Gloucestershire based huge Cannondale tandem in mid-May 2020. Fran and Mike used to ride long distances together on solo bikes, but Fran is no longer able to ride solo, so they will ride together on a tandem. Mike said on our Facebook group soon after, "Fran and I had a first gentle mile this evening. Early days with Fran just getting used to having no controls, balancing. A success and more to come."

Lily from Bristol

Lily and her parents collected our Gloucestershire based Adams Trail-a-bike Folder 24 tag-along in early May 2020. Sara, her Mum, said soon after, "Lily is loving the bike. We are hoping that it will improve her balance and coordination so that she can ride her own bike at some point."

Sam and his parents collected one of our Lancashire based Viking Companion tandems in early May 2020. See them in action on our Facebook group. His Mum, Emma, wrote on our there, "Thanks so much for lending my son Sam a tandem recently. Sam is 13 and visually impaired and is loving the tandem so far."

Jessica and her Dad, Paul, swapped our (now Warwickshire based) Orbit Gemini tandem for our Warwickshire based Claud Butler tandem in early May 2020, as she had outgrown the Gemini.

John from London

Joe and his Mum, Sarah, collected our Cheshire based Viking Tronheim tandem in early May 2020. Sarah said on our Facebook site soon after, "Cannot thank you enough, my son Joe has been out every day and loving every minute 🙂"

Isaac from Solihull

Isaac and his Mum, Anna, have had our Warwickshire based Viking Valhalla tandem since early May 2020. Anna wrote on our Facebook group the next day, "Had a very successful trip out on it last night and Isaac was up nice and early to have another go today."

Arabella from Shropshire

Arabella and her Mum, Sarina, collected our Shropshire based Buddy Bike at the start of May 2020. She wrote a couple of days later on our Facebook group, "Arabella was a little nervous at first so I went off to get a hang of it on my own to feel more confident. (It’s quite tricky to manoeuvre as I haven’t long arms!). Once she was on it she didn’t want to get off!!! Thank you so much, such a great charity!! Looking forward to more sunny rides this week."

Flo from Hertfordshire

Flo and her Mum and Dad, Dawn and Kevin, collected our Cambridgshire based Dawes Toucan tandem at the start of May 2020. Dawn wrote on our Facebook site, "Flo really enjoying her first real bike experience, peddling off road with her sister. After years of various options, this seems the first time that she can be really included and she is actually pedalling. Thank you so very much for this, a brilliant way to see if this is going to work for her and to get her out of the house in lockdown. Priceless. Thank you x"

Catherina from Norfolk

Catherina and her husband collected the Norfolk based Kurton tandem at the start of May 2020. Jenny our Norfolk Helper wrote on our Facebook group that Catherina was really keen to be able to go out cycling with her children especially during lockdown and that she said, "we had a nice weekend around Dilham and Bacton with the tandem. We are enjoying this lovely bike"..

Jamie and his Mum, Sue, collected our Shropshire based Viking Companion tandem at the start of May 2020. Sue said, "Thanks again Ray...I only had the idea yesterday when I was out on the country roads myself, thinking how good it would be for Jamie to have this freedom and within 24 hours, you guys have made it possible!!!! I’m so grateful, thank you xxx"

Charlie and his Dad, Joseph, collected our Sussex based Viking Companion tandem at the start of May 2020. Charlie's Mum, Joanne, wrote on our Facebook group about the photo, "The face of a boy who's never been able to ride a bike before! Thank you".

Billie and his Dad, Tom, collected one of our Gloucestershire based Richmond tandems at the start of May 2020. This is the second time that he has borrowed a tandem from us.

Kyle from Liverpool

Kyle and his Dad, Peter, collected one of our Cheshire based Canyon tag-along bikes at the start of May 2020. They've put stabilisers on it, to make it less wobbly and want to keep trying it until Kyle is happy on it.
